Smack That!

Akon's real name is

Aliaune Damala Bouga Time Puru Nacka Lu Lu Lu Badara Akon Thiam.
I'm serious

And that's pretty cool, because he goes by the very short stage name of Akon. Which would probably bring you to question my sudden fascination with Akon. Well it's like this - a few weeks ago, Ari, Sansan and Yuhan were singing his apparent smash hit called Smack That. They were talking about how Akon went around smacking booties of white chicks during the MTV Awards. And this discussion didn't go on once or twice, it'd go on for weeks and I inevitably got pulled in when Yuhan sent me the song. So after listening to it on repeat mode for 20 times, I must conclude that I have been Konvicted. It must be voodoo, but I frickin love Smack That.

Ok Evelyn, ENOUGH. #$%. A real update: We had a great time playing at Street Clap! 3Dash1 were awesome and it was even more awesome covering the Foo Fighters with them. Nassir and Ashik, thank you. Also, thank you all for coming to our show and even standing in the rain - it meant alot to us and we appreciate it wholeheartedly. Hans, thank you so much for filming our performances all these years - you should start charging us you know. Jabez, thanks for the interview, we've learnt alot about ourselves through that documentation! Pushpinder, thank you for ferrying our instruments to Al-Azhaar, you truly are a BPian. Oh yes! And we'll let you in on something juicy.. We've been recording our old songs and writing new ones. I can't wait to let yall hear them out. =] Please stay tuned to the ArPee channel.

On a sadder note, Ari has left us for An Ass. He enlisted for BMT on Thursday and we'll be picking him up on Friday. I hope he brings back souvenirs like an "I love NS" keychain or a "Got Hair?" cap or a "Warning: NS Man on board!" car decal. Kidding. We'd burn them if those things existed, yes we would. Come back soon Ari!

ArPee Love You Long Time Deep Deep!

Evelyn is so much better at this than I am but I figured that I might as well take my chances and try my hands at this. It would be nice to say, 'Firstly' right now, but since I already tried to absolve myself of any wrongdoing in the first part of this blog, I'm just gonna settle for 'Secondly'. But I really want you to know that by 'Secondly', I really mean 'Firstly'. And in no other way would we at ArPee want it. Cause that's the way we want and need it. All night. Every night. So... Ok. Let's get this fire started shall we?

Secondly, ArPee would like to say honto arigato to the MOSH Comm for letting us be part of such a great event as MOSH'07. We look forward to working with you guys and girls again! We would also like to give a supercalifragilisticespeallydocious shout out to all the bands that were involved in the event like (Ok, this goes in no particular order of preference or merit rather alphabetically as far as I can recount and spell.) A Vacant Affair, Caracal, Charles Lim, Chicosci, Kate Of Kale, Kiosai, No Direction, Super Illegals and The Vinyl Summer. The atmosphere was really great cause we felt that the bands were there for each other and like gave each other not only morale boosting support but also logistical support (like the loaning of drum kits and cables and what not).

Though realistically, it is not possible for me to say all the above and what I'm about to say in one single breath, I'm gonna say that I did it that way anyways cause these days it's really cool to be trying to do that and end up choking on your lines. I know. So emo right? So.. And in the same breath, we would also like to say a big thank you to all who came for the show and showed us your lovin! It's been so long since we last performed, close to 16 months already and we really appreciated the fact that you guys were the most electricfying crowd that we have ever played to in our gigging history! I'm not really good with names, so I'm gonna rattle some that comes to mind. If you feel that you deserve to be on the roll call, give us a shabooya and some spirit fingers and we'll add you in! =) Cause we really don't wanna be missing out on people that we should be saying thanks to. So... Thanks Carmen, Kev, Rico, Jeremy, Jabez, Bianca, Jasmine(?), Ana, Zul, Egane, HeroicNoAvail, Yuhua, Timothy, Randall, Fairoz and Roslan of SevenFalls, Khai, Charlene, Mudz of DYL (Did I get it right?), Jialing & Co. (Sorry we couldn't catch all your names), Faizal, Jo and Alphea of Scream Front, Amanda Tee, Rachel... Ok.. mind's kinda running on empty right now... But yeah! ArPee-gato!

Ok. There. All in one breath. Cool huh? So anyways... Thanks once again to all of you guys! We are having a gig this coming Friday with 3dash1 at Far East Plaza and would love to see you guys again there! We'll update with more details soon! Meanwhile, feed your cravings for some audio feeds of ArPee via our MySpace and PureVolume accounts!

Check me out!

Zoe Tay swallows!!

By the way we've a new song on our Purevolume site heehee
it's called Get Off The Grille, B!.

Why-thai-thai-o-toy-o-thai-thai

Ah.. wise words from Missy Elliott. She doesn't want you black, white, puerto rican, chinese boys/girls to know that Light Grenades is coming out this November 28th; I do. So please get a copy or even pre-order it, you'd probably get a limited ed mug or som'n (kidding). Only if you want to, that is. Truth be told I don't know why I'm doing this. This isn't even an Arpee album. But I do enjoy Incubus. If there's a religion we should evangelise, it's the love of the boydbensillasmorezinger collective. I don't know about Ari and Ihsan.. I think they dig Incubus too. Heck, they were into them way before I was!

So yes..

Love not hate,
Evelyn

Polaroids Of Tiger Lily Snogging

Ok here's another piece of news that Evelyn forgot to add. I'll be replacing Evelyn on vocals in our bid to gain a greater mass appeal as there are more people in this world who can't sing than those who can. Besides, if Joakim Gomez can get at it for so long, so can I. For awhile there i thought I was part of some movement who has mobilized to prove the point that Singapore Idol is a big joke... but looks like everybody chickened out at the last minute. And to think I already poured in so much of my parents' money into the campaign. Oh well, life's like that.

I swear one of the members of the Pussycat Dolls look like a man.

yes... beat me like a drum.

Flex some real muscles.

Yowza.

It's been a while and I'll stop coming up with excuses for our absence. But I'll be frank with one thing: Ari Ihsan Louey and I are busy with our respective exams. That earlier promise about having new material is still sticking though. Come November? December? Hopefully. We don't know. But we're gonna take our time about things from now on and most importantly have fun and feel lazy. It's the sole reason we formed the band in the first place.

Anyhow, here are some pieces of important information.

Numero Uno: Louis, our drummer, has decided to leave the band but things are okay. We wish him all the best. (I am not being sarcastic if you're thinking I am.)

2: Incubus are coming up with their new album Light Grenades this November. Sorry I'm such a biased asshole.

Ok I'm done. No one reads this shit but hello to you if you do, now listen to Method Man and try to feel angsty because there's nothing to be happy about..

Why You Have To Make Me Feel So Inferior When I'm On The Grille B?

Ok. So you're in a band. And you've been jamming for a few years now. And you think you've got some originals that you probably want somebody else besides your family to listen to. What do you do? Well, you get yourself involved in a host of other activities and get yourself committed to a whole lot of other projects and simply don't jam. That's the solution to the number one question that has hit all bands at one point or another of their journey.

So you've got the ball, and the keeper is way off his line. The net is open. This is it then, the shot that will win your team the coveted championship. What do you do? Well, pull down your pants and give the little Johnnie a wank at the ball. Johnnie Wanker. Keep on wanking.

Me Love You Long Time

So has anyone watched any good movies recently? Bought any new albums recently? Eagersteve and The Patches released their new album. So that's something right? So like remember to vote for your favourite team to see them go thru to the next phase of the World Cup Finals aight? Remember, your vote matters!

What I would describe our music to be like...

It's like what this friend of mine felt when he got caught by his mom masturbating just at the moment he got his orgasm. Which was hardcore cause like he tried to hide it away from her and managed to get his semen all over his keyboard. In short, it was like a cathartic release of so many pent up emotions. Yes, our music is probably like that.

Just to make sure this site gets hits from random people who are just out there looking for sites that has got to do with Singapore Idol 2006, i'm gonna do just that.

Singapore Idol 2006 is so great lorz. Got so many shuai guyz. and so many pretti galz. That guy Primero got such a shuai name. like a pornstar's. Joakim's is just as coolz lor! So flower power siax! nebermind. bah... luckily me no need to wait so nong to watch them... hope they sing in tune, on time and off key.

There you have it. Now that's how you score a few hits on your visit counter. Talk about ethics man.

In Which Part Of The Nursery Rhyme Humpty Dumpty Does It Say That Humpty Dumpty Is An Egg?

ArPee is currently looking out for new audiences. So if you think you can be a willing and receptive ArPee audience, why don't you email us at arpeeband@gmail.com with the venue, time and the list of other great bands that you would like to be audience to. We're always so excited about meeting and pleasing new people! We promise to try our darnest not to be a disappointment!

Many more people die in the name of God than from any other affliction or illness. What the world needs now is love! Vote Eva Nongoria for President. BK Burgers are the best way to go vegetarian. An eye for an eye makes the world go blind. MCs should be given away free of charge.

Magic Wasn't So Bad Until He Made Himself Disappear

It was jamming at its most tantric! With Louis on drums, Evelyn and Ihsan on guitars and Ari on the stool, it was indeed jamming at its most tantric. We're lock, stock and ready to go. Booyah!

Scotty Doesn't Know

Hey you guys! Yes, that includes you. Oh, I know you got here by accident when you pressed on the button that allows you to blog surf or like after you clicked on the hyperlink thinking that this is where 'the man with the hang that bangs' Emmanuel will take on 'the exotic oriental beauty with the name that seems to invite you into her booty' Chipapi when you googled for Ass-ian InvAsian 12, but well, yeah, the hey you part, does include you too.

So anyways, there has been a mishap within the band (someone broke a boner), but that does not mean we're gonna slow down! We're all pumped up and just raring to go to introduce to you guys our latest, unreleased, unrehearsed and untitled new songs. It's gonna be wild. It's gonna be hardcore. It's gonna be softcore. It's gonna be post-post-pre-post modern. It's gonna be ArPee like you've never heard them before these past few months back! So watch out!

And remember, if you've been panging to like watch ArPee live and watch Ihsan like go crazy on the guitars and kazoos or like listen to Louis' new high-hat solo or like say job right after Mistral says blow or like watch Evelyn strike a pose and belt out some new songs and like try to keep her composure while Ari tries to grab the microphone and say random stuff which nobody really ever finds interesting and like ends up being the butt of his own jokes which is really ok cause he really does look like his own butt which is really ok cause you haven't really seen his butt unless you've watched the movie that had an old man like puke all over himself and call it the Fourth of July fireworks display and have his pet turtle bathe in it, don't be shy about asking your favourite local gig organizers to book us. Well, ok. Be shy about it. But buy them a drink first. It might soften them up a little bit.

Oh yeah, we had to like kick Jon outta the band cause of like musical differences. I mean the fact that he only wanted to play the E's and A's on the G-string for every song, really said something about a guy who got the job in the first place based on the distinction he got for music in his Sec 2 education in Jalan Ramai-Ramai Secondary School. It was truly unfortunate that our trust and belief in his talents were misplaced. We are now placing our hopes on Ari who has thus far impressed us with his uncanny ability to play 'Do-Re-Mi" without breaking into a song and dance on his Samsung mobile phone.
